Erling Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola said there are four clubs in England who can afford to sign the Borussia Dortmund ace amid reported Chelsea interest.
The 20-year-old who has scored 28 goals for Dortmund this season is undoubtedly one of the hottest prospects in Europe.
Several top clubs, including Chelsea, are reportedly monitoring the Norwegia international.
According to Eurosport, Chelsea have even been making “progress behind the scenes” and try to convince influential figures close to Haaland about their project.
Interestingly, Haaland’s agent Raiola has hinted that his client would consider a move to the Premier League.
“It is obvious that everybody is looking at Erling as one of those potential new future stars because it’s so difficult to do what he does at his age at his level,” Raiola told BBC Sports.
“Only a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy [Haaland] and give the platform you would like after you’ve been in Dortmund — and four of those clubs are in [England].
“I don’t think there’s a sports director or trainer in the world who would say ‘not interested’.
“It’s like saying: ‘Is there a Formula 1 team who would not be interested in having Lewis Hamilton?”
Given Raiola’s reputation, it is not a surprise that he was very open about his client’s potentially leaving Dortmund.
But it might happen sooner or later, considering the reported release clause in his contract with Dortmund.
According to Fabrizio Romano, via CBS Sports, the clause will be valid starting June 2022, at a price point of €75 million (£64.6m).
That means Dortmund will have a reason to consider selling him early since they can negotiate a higher transfer fee this summer.
