RB Leipzig’s view of Xavi Simons and Tyrique George swap deal with Chelsea winger being tracked

Chelsea’s pursuit of RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons has just become more interesting.

Chelsea are keen on Simons but are yet to agree a fee with Leipzig for the 22-year-old’s signature.

The Blues will be hoping for their German counterparts to drop their asking price and may now be thinking about offering Tyrique George in the deal to make that happen.

The winger is thought to be attracting interest from Leipzig, and a move there is likely to appeal to him. George is not expected to play often at Chelsea next season following the club’s acquisition of Jamie Gittens and interest in Alejandro Garnacho.

RB Leipzig not open to Xavi Simons swap deal

While Leipzig may be tracking George, they do not seem to be too keen on the idea of a swap deal involving Simons.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Leipzig are monitoring the 19-year-old but have no interest in a swap deal that includes Simons.

It means Chelsea are going to have to offer straight cash to sign the Dutchman this summer. The Club World Cup winners have at least been able to add Simons’ Netherlands teammate Jorrel Hato to the squad.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has discussed Hato’s arrival, claiming that the defender will prove to be a great addition to Enzo Maresca‘s squad.

Hato has been converted into a left-back, so the former Ajax man and George could share the same flank if the latter remains in west London.

Chelsea’s stance on Tyrique George

Being a product of Chelsea’s successful academy, some supporters will not want to see George go.

However, Chelsea are open to George departing, which is hardly surprising. The club know that they cannot guarantee the English youngster regular minutes, especially if Garnacho does arrive.

Manchester United want to sign a striker before selling Garnacho. Once that happens, the Argentina international arriving at Stamford Bridge looks very likely.

It makes sense for George to depart, although a swap deal involving Simons does not seem possible.
