Journalist Alfredo Pedulla has claimed that Real Madrid are readying a major bid for reported Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol.

Writing on Twitter, Pedulla suggested that the Champions League holders have a £77m offer in waiting for the RB Leipzig defender.

Madrid are one of four major European clubs apparently in contention to grab Gvardiol and prize him away from Germany.

Along with the La Liga champions and Chelsea, Manchester City and Barcelona have also been tipped as contenders to sign the centre-back.

Out of the formidable four, the Blues and Los Blancos are supposedly the most eager to add the Croatia international to their roster.

Todd Boehly is seemingly confident he will win the race to sign the defensive rock ahead of his competitors.  

Josko Gvardiol just keeps going

It is becoming clearer by the day as to why the giants on the continent have worked up a sweat trying to loosen Leipzig’s grip on their player.

Gvardiol has been one of the outstanding performers at the World Cup so far.

The 20-year-old has started each of Croatia’s four games, and will be called upon again for their quarter-final clash against Brazil on Friday.

Without the young enforcer, Tite’s samba styling side would be a shoe-in to win the tie.

But his and Dejan Lovren’s combination of experience and energy give the 2018 World Cup finalists a chance.
