Report: £110k-a-week Chelsea player now ‘very close’ to leaving after Wednesday negotiations

Tiemoue Bakayoko is reportedly on the verge of leaving Chelsea to join AC Milan.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, an agreement between Chelsea and AC Milan for the 27-year-old is “very close”.

The report explains that there were discussions between parties on Wednesday as they try to wrap up a deal.

Sky Sports claimed earlier this week that Bakayoko was close to making a switch to the San Siro on loan with an option to buy.

The £110,000-a-week midfielder spent the 2018/19 season on loan with Milan, so could be about to return to familiar surroundings in Italy.

Tiemoue Bakayoko a £40million blunder

For Chelsea, Bakayoko will go down as one of their biggest transfer blunders in history after spending £40million on him four years ago. He’s made just 43 first-team appearances for the Blues and is nowhere near Thomas Tuchel’s current first-team squad.

However, he was a star in the Monaco team at the time of his signing. Also, he’s not suddenly become a bad player.

He’s still at an age where he can enjoy another renaissance in his career and a return to Serie A with the option of a permanent transfer should help him.

The defensive midfielder spent last year as an important player for Napoli, but he may be about to sign for rivals AC Milan.

It must be a big psychological boost for a player knowing that a permanent deal may be waiting at the end of a year loan, so good luck to Bakayoko away from Stamford Bridge.
