Callum Hudson-Odoi still sees his long-term future at Chelsea despite rumours of his being offered as part of the potential deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, according to Sky Sports.

Having initially had a regular starting role under Thomas Tuchel, the 20-year-old struggled for minutes towards the end of last season.

His last start for Chelsea was back in April, in the away win over Crystal Palace.

Reece James’ good performances certainly played a part, since Tuchel often deployed Hudson-Odoi in the right wing-back position at first.

Obviously, Hudson-Odoi had to face even more fierce competition for the attacking roles.

An earlier report from Sky Germany claims that the winger, alongside Tammy Abraham, was recently offered to Borussia Dortmund in a potential player plus cash deal for Haaland.

Hudson-Odoi committed to long-term future at Chelsea

Dortmund have reportedly turned down the proposals — but it still raises questions over Hudson-Odoi’s future at Chelsea.

According to Sky Sports, however, someone close to Hudson-Odoi has ruled out the winger’s involvement in any deal for Haaland.

The report further added that the England international has a “fantastic relationship” with Tuchel and still sees his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.

Hudson-Odoi is also reportedly aware that he will have to fight for his place in the first team during the upcoming season.

It is very good to hear that Hudson-Odoi is still eager to prove himself at the club despite recent struggles.

Given how long he has been around the first team, it is easy to forget that he is such a young player.

There have been reports of several Chelsea youngsters’ looking to leave the club due to lack of a clear path into the first team.

Keeping Hudson-Odoi might help convince other young talents that Chelsea still value their academy products.
