Chelsea are reportedly interested in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba as an alternative to Wesley Fofana.
According to Sky Germany, Thomas Tuchel’s Blues are eyeing potential new targets in case they can’t secure a deal for Leicester City’s 21-year-old centre-back Fofana.
It is understood that Tapsoba will be top of the list for Chelsea in case they look elsewhere to strengthen in defence.
The report explains that Leverkusen’s 23-year-old centre-back is a player Chelsea have made initial contact for, albeit there’s been no concrete talks yet.

Chelsea interested in Tapsoba
Tapsoba, 23, is a talented young defender that’s making a name for himself in the Bundesliga.
He’s a strong centre-half that’s good in the air and composed with the ball at his feet. The Burkina Faso international helped Leverkusen finish third last season in the German top division.
With Chelsea already sounding out initial interest, it’ll be intriguing to see how long they’re willing to wait before they turn their focus to him.
Fofana’s still the player heavily linked with a transfer from Leicester to Stamford Bridge, but the Blues are reportedly growing frustrated that they’re yet to secure his signature.

It’s frustrating that Chelsea fans are still waiting to see another centre-back join the club.
Kalidou Koulibaly’s arrival this summer in West London pleased most, but they’ve always needed two new defenders following the exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
With Koulibaly suspended for this weekend’s league match against Leicester City, Tuchel will see how light he is in the centre-half area of the pitch when he plays a back three.
