Mason Mount is currently readying to leave Chelsea and join Manchester United, but the two clubs are still in negotations about a potential transfer.

According to The Athletic, directors between Chelsea and Manchester United have been in talks recently to discuss a deal for Mason Mount.

It is understood that the Blues want £70million plus add-ons. As for United, they started pitching at around £40million.

The report claims that Mount, 24, is preparing to make the move to Old Trafford, and personal terms won’t be an issue.

In addition, United manager Erik ten Hag thinks that Chelsea’s star is the perfect option to play as a mobile No 8 in his system next season.

We’ve heard plenty of speculation in recent weeks about the future of Mount, who’s got just one year remaining on his Chelsea deal.

Ally McCoist recently suggested Chelsea will be making a big mistake if they do sell Mount in this window.

However, if the attacking midfielder doesn’t want to sign a new contract at the club, they risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

We could definitely picture Mount thriving in Ten Hag’s system at United if he makes the move to Manchester, something which will break the hearts of so many Chelsea supporters.

Similarly, we think the 24-year-old could get back to his best next season at Stamford Bridge under incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Some critics will be firing shots at Mount for going slightly off the boil in the 2022/23 season, but you could say that about almost every individual in the Chelsea squad.

In our view, the England international will soon be back scoring and assisting goals, whether that’s in west London or Manchester.
