Reports from Italy have claimed that Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech is keen to leave the club next year.

According to CalcioMercato, the 29-year-old would welcome a move to AC Milan in order to try and earn regular playing time again.

The clubs were in contact over the summer about a potential transfer.

However, this fell through and Ziyech stayed, much to his own personal annoyance.

There may have been a belief that the sacking of Thomas Tuchel left a glimpse of hope for his Chelsea career, with him having the opportunity to prove himself to the new man in charge.

Despite this, game time has still been at a premium for Graham Potter, and it feels as if it’s only a matter of time before he moves on.

Ziyech wants to leave

CalcioMercato have claimed that the Serie A champions may be set to revive talks for the Morocco international, and that the player himself would be more than happy with the transfer.

Signed by Frank Lampard before the summer window of 2020 even began, it can’t be doubted that Ziyech has scored a few big goals for Chelsea.

He struck in back-to-back wins against Manchester City, before making his presence known with a goal that helped Chelsea to Super Cup victory in Belfast.

However, it has often felt like his style of play simply doesn’t suit being an attacker in this league.

He clearly is not a winger who wants to press and defend from the front, and that immediately causes an issue in the system Potter is trying to intergrate.

Most of his wingers have already endured a spell in a wing-back position, with them having to show a defensive work ethic in order to feature. For Ziyech, this is simply not his game, and a move is best for all parties.
