Antonio Rudiger’s future at Chelsea once again looks in doubt following the sport-shattering announcement from Roman Abramovich.
According to the Telegraph, Abramovich’s decision to sell the club has left Rudiger and a few of his comrades fearing for their place at Stamford Bridge.
All of the talk over the past few days has understandably been about matters away from the field of play.
Chelsea are undergoing the biggest change in their modern history since Abramovich took them over in 2003.
However, little thought has gone towards the feelings of the players and how the new takeover might affect them.
Rocky times ahead for Rudiger
For those nearing the end of their contracts, this outside distraction is certainly not helping matters.
Especially for Rudiger, who before Abramovich’s confirmation, had seemingly made some strides to extending his stay at Chelsea.

“I feel great here, I have always said it. I think the way I play you can see that I’m happy here,” he said only last month.
However, this optimistic line was quickly followed by another, more unsettling statement.
“But there are also other people who have to make decisions.”
Originally, those people in question might’ve partially involved Abramovich, although the majority of transfer matters are covered by Marina Granovskaia.
With the former Russian owner set to no longer give the green light for orders, Rudiger could be back to square one again in regards to talks over a new deal.
Time is not on Chelsea’s side to convenience their commanding centre-back, who cost £29m (BBC), to pen his allegiance for another couple of seasons.
The same can be said for Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Confusion for Cesar and Chris
Like their fellow defender, both Christensen and Azpilicueta will become free agents in June unless a new contract can be confirmed.

Barcelona reportedly want to snap up the Dane and the Spain international, with the former looking extremely likely to join the La Liga team.
What happens in these next few months really is anyone’s guess.
