Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent reportedly wants his client to move to Chelsea in the summer.

According to AreaNapoli, Fali Ramadani is eager for Koulibaly to either join the Blues or Barcelona next season.

It remains something of a mystery that the Napoli player hasn’t signed for one of Europe’s elite sides yet.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a switch away from Serie A for as long as the mind can cast back.

He’s consistently been one of Italy’s defenders in a league where defending is sacrilege.

Koulibaly has four Serie A Team of the Year inclusions to his name, plus the division’s best defender award for 2018/19.

Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti will certainly agree with honours handed to the Senegal international.

In fact, the Real Madrid boss once went one further and described him as the ‘best centre-back in the world’.

This was at a time when Ancelotti and Koulibaly were working together at Napoli, before the coach took over Everton in 2019.

There have been suggestions that the pupil might follow in the footsteps of his master and test himself against the Premier League’s best.

However, Koulibaly has yet to cross over onto British soil.

Why hasn’t Koulibaly left Napoli?

Perhaps Napoli’s lack of success has kept him largely away from the eye line of the top teams across the continent.

They won the 2019/20, 2013/14 and 2011/12 Coppa Italia, along with the 2014 Supercoppa Italiana.

Other than that, the Naples club haven’t won any more major items of silverware since 1990.

It’s certainly not Koulibaly’s price tag that is holding him back.

AS claim that he could cost just £34m, something of a bargain in today’s market.

Especially for those who are in need of a player in his position, like Chelsea for example.

Thomas Tuchel is set to lose Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen once the campaign concludes, with Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta tipped to join them.

Perhaps Tuchel needs to sit down with Fali Ramadani and chat about Koulibaly’s availability.
