Barcelona could raid Chelsea three times this summer as they have reportedly made Romelu Lukaku a transfer target.

This is according to AS, who claim the Belgian is on the shortlist of strikers admired by Joan Laporta.

Who do Barca want to sign?

Erling Haaland remains the top pick for Barca’s president, although several other European suitors view the Borussia Dortmund centre-forward in a similar manner.

Next up for Laporta appears to be Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, who is currently in a contract stand-off with the Anfield hierarchy.

Below the Egyptian comes the Bayern Munich talisman Robert Lewandowski, the 2021 FIFA Men’s Player of the Year with a deal that expires next June.

Failing to land any of the destructive attackers and the La Liga chief may turn to Lukaku instead.

AS describe Chelsea’s number nine as being plan D, possibly due to his figures this season compared to the other candidates.

Lukaku versus the rest

Since returning to Stamford Bridge last August, the 28-year-old has scored 11 times in 32 appearances.

Haaland’s goal tally stands at 23 in 21 games, despite missing a majority of the campaign through injury.

Salah is slightly ahead with 28 in 35, but Lewandowski’s numbers are another level.

The Bayern frontman has netted on 43 occasions from 36 outings.

Quite an incredible return for a man who turns 34 in a few months.

Therefore, it’s no real surprise that Lukaku ranks below the rest in Laporte’s eyes.

Barca hoping for a Blues bundle

However, this isn’t to say the Camp Nou emperor would turn down the chance to sign the Chelsea man if the opportunity arose.

And it might feasibly occur, depending how the rest of the term pans out.

At the moment, Lukaku is struggling to get into Thomas Tuchel’s side, due to the form of Kai Havertz.

Havertz continues to hit the rote notes, whilst his senior colleague can only play a broken tune.

Carry on like this, and Chelsea’s club-record signing might push for an exit after only just walking through the front door.

He could jump on the same plane as Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta, two of Tuchel’s group that Barca have been trying to acquire for quite a while.

Both are out of contract in June and may also want to walk away from the mess left behind by Roman Abramovich.
