Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Porto left-back and reported Chelsea transfer target Alex Telles.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked to a move to Stamford Bridge, although previous reports suggest Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has had Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell on top of his shortlist for the left-back position.
Telles has had eight goals and five assists from 23 appearances in Primeira Liga this season which puts him among the most prolific fullbacks in Europe.
Telles whose contract will expire in 2021 is now close to joining PSG, according to Brazilian publication Gaucha Zero Hora.
The report claims the transfer negotiation has advanced in recent days and should be concluded soon. PSG will reportedly pay around €20million to €25m for the Brazil international.
Gaucha Zero Hora which mainly covers Brazilian football, including Telles’ former club Gremio, said the club would receive around €400,000 from the FIFA solidarity mechanism.
What does it mean for Chelsea?
Lampard still has Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso for the left-back role at his disposal.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, the former Chelsea midfielder also said young left-back Ian Maatsen could follow Billy Gilmour’s footsteps to break into the first-team squad.
But if Lampard is keen on bringing a new left-back, he would likely have to offload either Emerson or Alonso, as Chelsea would also need to invest on other areas.
Emerson and Alonso have reportedly attracted interests from Serie A top clubs.
