Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly could reportedly make a bid soon for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk, but he wants assurances first that the player wants to join the Blues over Arsenal.

Mudryk, 22, is a very exciting attacker at the centre of transfer speculation this month.

The left-winger’s name has been frequently mentioned alongside Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen their squad at a time they sit top of the Premier League table.

As for Chelsea, they sit 10th in the league in poor form, which has not been helped by the massive injury pile up.

Boehly could bid for Mudryk

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea may be prepared to accelerate their interest in Mudryk following injuries to both Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic in yesterday’s defeat to Manchester City.

It is understood that Arsenal are pushing hard to sign Shakhtar’s £88million-rated forward, albeit their opening two bids have been rejected.

The report says those within Chelsea are confident they can outbid Arsenal to sign the Ukraine international.

However, Boehly and the Blues hierarchy want to know Mudryk is willing to join before submitting their offer.

Described a “really quick” by Danny Murphy on talkSPORT (12pm, 4 January), Mudryk is a dynamic wide player that could light up the Premier League if he arrives in January.

He’s scored 10 goals and made eight assists in just 18 clubs games this season. In particular, his fantastic form in the Champions League group stages pre-World Cup should seriously impress potential buyers.
