French top-flight club Bordeaux have reportedly joined the race for Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud.
According to Goal, Bordeaux are hoping to sign the 33-year-old in the January transfer window, but his £100,000-a-week wages could be a potential stumbling block.
It is understood that Inter Milan also want to sign the France international for a cut-price deal and others are expected to join the race next month for his signature.
Meanwhile, Football.London have previously reported that Atletico Madrid are another club eyeing the left-footed striker and that Blues manager Frank Lampard will allow him to leave.
It will be no surprise to see Giroud depart Stamford Bridge in January, as he needs to be playing regularly to keep his spot in the France national team.
He’s only managed seven appearances across all competitions, with the duo of Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi both above him in the pecking order.
Giroud should be well regarded by supporters if he does leave, as he’s been a decent servant during his time in West London.
He’s scored some memorable goals in a Chelsea shirt, including in the Europa League final win over his former club Arsenal at the end of the season.
The target man definitely still has the ability to score goals if he returns to Ligue 1, but he could encounter the same issue of stiff competition if he ends up at Inter.
