Reports suggest that Wesley Fofana has an agreement with Leicester City to listen to fair bids for him, amid rumours Chelsea are pushing to sign him.

According to The Telegraph, the Foxes value the 21-year-old at over £80m, although a strong bid from the Blues could leave them with their hands tied due to promises to the player.

The Blues have reportedly made the Frenchman their number one target for a recognised centre-back this month, with him already proving his worth in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers.

His impact on the defence was notable last season, with the backline really struggling following his long-term injury suffered in pre-season.

When fit, he has drawn praise from many around the game, with Gary Lineker describing him as a ‘brilliant footballer’.

The Telegraph have claimed the Blues are not yet put off by Leicester’s valuation, and may be encouraged by the fact that the Frenchman may have a prior agreement to help him leave.

They will already have been boosted by Fofana’s intriguing social media activity, where he posted cryptic quotes on Instagram and removed his current club from his Twitter profile.

Thomas Tuchel is hopeful to still sign another one or two options to play at the back this summer, despite their first game of the Premier League season being just three days away.

Marc Cucurella is another name the Blues are honing in on, with the German keen to utilise the 24-year-old on the left of a back three, replacing the impactful Antonio Rudiger at last.

The Blues were rivalling Premier League champions Manchester City for a deal for the Brighton man, however they reached a sticking point in their negotiations which Chelsea were seemingly happy to overcome.

Despite it looking like they are leaving business late this summer, the club are seemingly making intelligent signings, which supporters will be hoping help bridge the gap to the runaway top two from last season.
