Report: ‘Brilliant’ player is now very close to joining Chelsea, the deal has moved very quickly

Benfica star Enzo Fernandez is reportedly very close to joining Chelsea during this January transfer window.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Blues have moved another step closer to signing the 21-year-old sensation as the deal moved very quickly last night.

It is understood that the transfer is moving along extremely swiftly, with Chelsea ready to pay three installments of around €40million (£35million) each to get the Benfica talisman.

The report explains Graham Potter’s side will end up forking out €127million (£112million) in total.

Di Marzio adds Fernandez should soon become a Chelsea player and talks between parties are advanced.

It appears like this transfer saga is racing towards its conclusion.

Record claimed on Monday that Fernandez skipped Benfica training, so his potential departure from the Portuguese club won’t surprise anyone.

Fernandez, who turns 22 later this month, is now well known to football fans after a magnificent winter.

Described as “brilliant” by Chris Sutton during the World Cup, he’s one of the game’s most exciting youngsters.

A £100million-plus transfer is going to bring a lot of pressure on Fernandez if he completes his move to the Premier League in Chelsea colours. However, he does look tailor-made to do well in England with his attributes as a complete midfielder.

His aggression, physicality and technique is everything Chelsea need adding in their midfield right now.
