Chelsea are reportedly expected to step up a move to try sign Lucas Digne from Premier League rivals Everton during the January transfer window.
According to The Sun, the Blues are going to accelerate their plans to bring the 28-year-old to Stamford Bridge on loan.
With Ben Chilwell out for the season, Everton’s full-back could provide competition for Marcos Alonso in Chelsea’s left wing-back position from now until the end of the campaign.
The report says Digne is “likely” to leave Goodison Park on a temporary basis this month and Chelsea are about to focus their attention on his signature.

Digne would be superb Chelsea addition
Digne may have fallen out of favour lately with Everton boss Rafael Benitez, but he’s not the first to fall into that trap.
The attack-minded left-back has arguably been the Merseyside club’s standout individual during the last few years alongside the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison.
He’s a set-piece specialist from free-kicks and corners that can help improve the current Chelsea XI. Also, Gary Lineker labelled him “excellent” back in 2019.
Thomas Tuchel’s Blues need someone that can hit the ground running for them and Premier League proven Digne has the ability to immediately compete with Alonso.
It would be great to wrap up a deal quickly, too.
