Reports have claimed that Chelsea are hoping for a Serie A club to come and sign Kalidou Koulibaly from them at the end of the season.

According to the Evening Standard, the Blues are hoping to sell the Senegal international as part of a summer clear-out at the end of the current campaign.

The defender has only been with the club since July, however has failed to live up to the expectations many had placed on him since his £33m move.

He has recently lost his place in the side to Benoit Badiashile, who has impressed manager Graham Potter in particular in his first two appearances for the club since joining last month.

With Wesley Fofana pushing closer to a return, it could be a real worrying time for Koulibaly, who certainly didn’t join the club for sporadic appearances off the bench.

He has an impressive career under his belt thanks to his dominant appearances in Serie A over the past few years.

This is why, as per the Evening Standard, that Chelsea are hopeful a club from Italy maintains interest in signing him at the end of the season.

The Blues will also be paying close attention to a player who plays in the same position as the Senegal man as someone who can potentially instantly replace him in the squad.

Levi Colwill has been enjoying his second consecutive sensational loan spell, this time at the top level with overachieving Brighton.

While he is currently injured, the defender has even been on Gareth Southgate’s radar this season for a potential England call-up.

Being left footed and extremely comfortable on the ball should see him slot seamlessly into the Chelsea backline, and his age suggests he will be a key player for a number of years.
