Chelsea are now reportedly interested in Aston Villa defender Matty Cash.
According to Simon Phillips, the Stamford Bridge chain of command have added the full-back to their list of transfer targets.
Cash is certainly a new name to be linked with the Blues, but fans should already be well aware of his abilities.
The 25-year-old has faced Chelsea six times in his career, five of those since he moved to Villa Park in 2020 for £16m.
Whilst he has never been on the winning side against the South West Londoners, supporters have surely witnessed enough to know what the Villa man offers.

He is certainly a threat going forward, although ten goals in assists in nearly 90 games for Villa could of course be improved.
His skills have been honed under some of the most noticeable figures in the sport, as well.
Cash’s big name coaches
When Cash arrived in the West Midlands, he was greeted by Chelsea legend John Terry, who was Dean Smith’s assistant at the time.
One England icon was replaced by another, as Steven Gerrard took over from Smith when the latter was sacked in November 2021.
Gerrard often voiced his appreciation of Cash, calling him ‘fantastic’ shortly after the Poland international signed a fresh five-year contract with Villa.

But this loving relationship didn’t last long, as the former Liverpool midfielder was removed from his post earlier this season.
In came Unai Emery, a masterful footballing mind who must want to prove himself in the English top flight.
Should Chelsea Cash in on Matty?
Now on to his third coach, Cash will have to prove himself again as the club’s first-choice right-back.
A position that Chelsea could do with covering, due to the concerns over Reece James’ fitness.
Cesar Azpilicueta has mainly been filling in for James, although Trevoh Chalobah got the nod at right-back for the FA Cup meeting with Manchester City yesterday.

Chalobah is naturally a centre-back, whilst Azpilicueta is clearly past the peak of his powers.
So, it’s no surprise that the Chelsea board are seemingly looking in the direction of Cash to potentially provide more depth.
