Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi has been linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer.

According to 90min, the 21-year-old is being looked at as the next potential addition to Newcastle’s new-look side under their new ownership.

Hudson-Odoi fell out of favour in the second half of the season, with the England international ending the season on 28 appearances across six competitions.

Under Thomas Tuchel, he has seen his playing minutes as an attacker lessen too, often occupying a wing-back role as the German looked to maintain the attacking threat from that position.

This has contributed to a stagnation in his international career too, not adding to his three England caps since 2019. He has also considered changing his allegiance to represent the Ghanaian international side.

Newcastle want Hudson-Odoi

In an attempt to recover the form shown at the peak of his time at Stamford Bridge, Hudson-Odoi returned to pre-season earlier than the rest of the squad.

However, it may not be enough if a suitable offer comes in for the academy graduate, and 90min have suggested Newcastle are eyeing him up as a potential signing.

The Magpies are in the middle of a rebuild since their new owners took over at the start of the year, with intelligent purchases such as Bruno Guimares, Dan Burn and Sven Botman already under their belts.

The move could be the rebirth of Hudson-Odoi, with him likely to receive far more game time at St. James’ Park. Given the players Chelsea are strongest linked to are recognised wingers, opportunities could be about to become even more scarce.

The move away would be a shame, with it signalling the end of a player who was set to be one of the brightest talents to come out of the club’s prestigious academy. That being said, fans would have hoped for far more goal contributions in his 126 Chelsea appearances up to now.
