Report: Chelsea begin discussion to sign Thomas Tuchel's former player
Chelsea have begun discussions to bring in Paris Saint-Germain defender Lavyin Kurzawa amid their left-back crisis, according to French outlet RMC Sport.
The report mentioned how Chelsea are struggling to find a solution to Ben Chilwell’s long-term injury absence, having previously failed to recall Emerson Palmieri from loan club Lyon.
The Blues have reportedly been looking for other options and Kurzawa seems to be one of them.
The 29-year-old has only had one appearance as a sub this season and is clearly not a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at PSG despite his recent contract extension which ties him to the club until 2024.
Unsurprisingly, RMC Sport claims that Kurzawa is also looking to leave the club.
Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna also claims on social media that the defender has been offered to Chelsea.
Having worked together with Thomas Tuchel, Kurzawa should be quite familiar with the manager, which will only help if he joins Chelsea.
Tuchel clearly rated the Kurzawa, despite seeing him as second-choice behind Juan Bernat at the time.
The German insisted on keeping him at PSG when he was linked with a move to Arsenal back in 2020 (via Daily Mail).
Also, as indicated by his plan to recall Emerson, Tuchel seems to prefer working with familiar faces whose character and personality he knows very well.
