Report: Chelsea block Italian club's approach to sign 25-year-old
Chelsea are not willing to let go of Ruben Loftus-Cheek this month despite Juventus’ approach for the midfielder, according to Italian publication Calciomercato.
Juventus, the report claims, are facing risks of losing Arthur Melo in the January transfer window.
The Brazil international is reportedly pushing for a loan move to Arsenal, which he believes might revive his career after a few disappointing years.
Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri is not exactly against Arthur’s departure, the report added, but he also does not want to be left without a replacement.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
The Italian club has reportedly been looking at several options, including Chelsea’s Loftus-Cheek.
However, Chelsea have reportedly been blocking Juventus’ approach.
This is hardly a surprise given Thomas Tuchel himself has recently indicated his intention to keep the Chelsea academy graduate in his squad.
The German even spoke very highly of the midfielder’s contribution in the first half of the season during N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic’s absences.
Loftus-Cheek remains backup midfield option at Chelsea
A potential loan move to Serie A could be an attractive option for Loftus-Cheek, though, particularly considering he is unlikely to play a prominent role at Chelsea with Kante, Kovacic, and Jorginho being fit at the moment.
He has only played a total of 25 minutes, in two appearances as a sub in the Carabao Cup, since the 1-1 draw with Everton in mid-December.
The 25-year-old signed a five-year deal with the Blues in 2019 which ties him to the club until 2024.
