Chelsea remain highly encouraged that they will snap up Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan, according to Eurosport.
Donnarumma has been on the Blues radar for some time, as he continues to struggle with Milan over signing a new contract.
His deal runs out in June and there is no indication that he will agree to an extension.

This means the talented 22-year-old could leave as a free agent in the summer, with Chelsea one of the most interested parties.
They feel with every passing week that Donnarumma doesn’t commit to Milan, their chances of securing him improve.
Eurosport also stated that the Rossoneri were already on the hunt for another goalkeeper, in case he does decide to leave.
If the Blues did manage to swoop up Milan’s current ‘keeper, they would be landing one of the most exceptional players of his generation.

Just ask Paolo Maldini, who told RMC that Donnarumma was ‘one of those goalkeepers who are born once every twenty years’.
But do Chelsea need another shot stopper?
Edouard Mendy is currently Thomas Tuchel’s no.1, with Kepa Arrizbalaga in reserve.

Willy Caballero is also on standby, so it’s not as if the club are lacking in this particular position.
However, Donnarumma is a lot younger than his goalkeeping comrades and would certainly be a long-term investment rather than a short-term solution.
