Report: Chelsea considering sending big group out to sign ‘spectacular’ player, next few hours are vital now

Reports from Portugal have claimed that Chelsea want to complete a deal to sign Enzo Fernandez today.

According to Record, the Blues are considering sending a heavy representation to negotiate with Benfica in the final days of the transfer window.

The saga surrounding the Argentina international is likely to go down in history no matter what happens in the next few days.

The Blues registered interest in signing him as soon as the window opened, with it looking like they were going to be able to get the deal over the line.

Described as ‘spectacular’ by none other than Lionel Messi, his quality is recognised by everyone in the game.

However, they eventually seemed to annoy the Portuguese side in negotiations, leaving them with the mindset that they would only allow him to go if the release clause was met.

January has since taken a very different turn for the Stamford Bridge outfit. They have completed a near full rebuild of the squad in the middle of the season.

The attack in particular have been addressed, with the signings of Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix on loan potentially completing resetting the frontline.

Signings of Malo Gusto and Benoit Badiashile have addressed other areas which needed love, whilst the likes of David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos have been brought in with an eye to the future.

Signing Fernandez would put the final touches on a window where they have addressed nearly all of the issues that had cropped up this season.

The deal will reportedly still be tough to pull off, due to Benfica’ unwillingness to part way with the player.

With Moises Caicedo now being targeted a lot harder by Arsenal, the Blues will know that it’s all or nothing for addressing the midfield with the signing of Fernandez in the next couple days.
