Chelsea could try again to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice if his potential move to Arsenal collapses at the last minute.

That is according to 90min.

West Ham captain Declan Rice, who’s just 24, has received transfer links to Stamford Bridge in recent months. All the transfer noise surrounding him is currently about a move to Arsenal, though.

The Daily Mail recently claimed that Chelsea’s interest in signing Rice has faded because they believe the player wants to join Arsenal.

Now, it turns out the Blues are still waiting in the wings for him.

90min says that West Ham are preparing to lose talisman Rice during this summer window, but they won’t accept his sale unless the transfer package exceeds £100million

It is understood that Arsenal have failed with two bids so far to sign the Hammers and England midfielder, with the most recent one worth £90million in total. The Gunners are set to come back with a third offer, though.

However, the report adds that Chelsea could yet re-enter the running to sign Rice if a move to Arsenal falls through.

It’s important to note that the player himself wants to stay in London amid interest from Manchester City and Manchester United as well.

We don’t know how realistic the chances are of Chelsea signing Rice this summer, but we would absolutely love the club to arrive in the eleventh hour to snap him up.

The ‘world class’ defensive midfielder is exactly what the Blues need in their starting line-up.

He achieved huge success last season by lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy as West Ham’s skipper, but it’s universally agreed he should be playing in the biggest games.

Unfortunately, Chelsea can’t offer their transfer targets any European next season after a horrid year.
