Reports have claimed that Chelsea could turn back to sign Moises Caicedo before the end of January.

According to the Independent, the Blues may look back to the Brighton man if they are unsuccessful in their attempts to bring in Enzo Fernandez in the final two days of the transfer window.

The club’s interest was reignited over the weekend in signing the Argentinian, after it had looked as if they may have to accept they were unable to bring him in this month as well as their other signings.

The owners have already addressed the glaring issues in attack with three high profile signings. Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke could provide a completely new front three at Stamford Bridge.

Now though, they are pushing hard to bring in a midfielder, safe in the knowledge that Jorginho and potentially N’golo Kante will be on the move at the end of the season.

While they are currently pushing to sign Fernandez, they are aware that things will be difficult due to Benfica’s resistance to part ways with the player this month.

The Independent have claimed that this could see them instead turn their late attention to Caicedo, who was left out of the first team squad for the FA Cup victory over Liverpool.

Arsenal have made themselves favourites to sign the Ecuadorian after registering two unsuccessful bids since Chelsea made their first proposal to sign him.

However, the money being offered for Fernandez is comfortably enough to convince Brighton to let their wantaway star leave in the next few days.

It remains to be seen whether the club will look to what could be described as a panic signing if they are unable to secure a sensational deal for Fernandez.
