Chelsea would prefer to sell Kepa Arrizabalaga over Edouard Mendy this summer, according to reports.

90min claims that Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers this summer for both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy, who are the two senior goalkeepers at Stamford Bridge right now.

It is understood that the Blues want to sell one of the first-team keepers, with the club actively looking for a replacement in-between the sticks.

The report says that Chelsea would prefer to cash in on Kepa, who’s currently the number one starting every game. However, his wages are a potential stumbling block.

Therefore, Mendy’s sale is viewed as more realistic because of his lower wages.

We couldn’t agree more that Chelsea need a revamp in goal next season!

Kepa, 28, has done well to regain his spot as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper this year.

In our view, the Spain international is still a decent keeper. We believe it could make sense for all parties if he moves on and becomes a number one elsewhere, though.

As for 31-year-old Mendy, he’s had a really difficult season that has seen him demoted to the bench.

The £22million shot-stopper proved in the past he can compete with the best goalkeepers in the world, but his best days at Chelsea now look a long way behind him. A new home could be just what he needs.

We understand it’ll be tough to get rid of both Kepa and Mendy in one window, but the longer term plan has to be to replace both.

The Premier League’s top sides are built on consistent goalkeepers and defences, which is something Chelsea really need to get back to.

90min recently claimed that Brentford’s David Raya and Inter Milan’s Andre Onana are two goalkeepers on Chelsea’s radar. We would be happy with either in our goal next season.
