Manchester United have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race for Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell. The Metro have claimed that despite the emergence of Brandon Williams, the Red Devils are considering a £60m move for the English defender. This could make things difficult for the Blues.
The 23-year-old has been impressive this season in a Leicester side that is currently sat comfortably third in the Premier League. Chelsea are in desperate need of a new left-back, with Lampard currently unsatisfied with the options available to him.

Marcos Alonso and Emerson are both deemed surplus to requirements, and Cesar Azpilicueta has had to fill in on the left-side in recent weeks. The lack of a left-sided player makes attacking at speed more difficult because of the need to come inside constantly.
Chilwell has been rumoured to be one of the Blues top targets this month (Telegraph), and would certainly be a big upgrade on the options Chelsea currently have in their senior squad.
If the England national is to move on, it is clear that there will be a lot of competition for his signature. Champions League qualification could prove to be a deciding factor on who Chilwell chooses if he decides to leave the King Power.
Our view – Chelsea should pursue other left-back options

Although Chilwell comes with Premier League experience, his hefty transfer fee does not necessarily present good value.
A player like Alex Telles, who has European experience and would come at almost half the price of the Leicester man, could be the better option. A Bola has reported that he is not keen on signing a new deal with the Portuguese club and that he could be available for £40 million.
