Report: Chelsea now make move to sign £25m player who Graham Potter has already called ‘quality’

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly rejected an advance from Chelsea to potentially sign Yves Bissouma this month.

According to the Telegraph, Antonio Conte and his employers have snubbed a move from their Premier League rival for the Bissouma.

Chelsea are desperately trying to add a new midfielder before the January transfer window closes.

They have seen a bid from Benfica for Enzo Fernandez rejected, whilst acquiring Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo has proved to be a problem.

Todd Boehly and his team have instead turned to cheaper, and possibly more accessible, options.

This seemingly includes Bissouma, who’s short tenure at Tottenham has not exactly taken the roof off.

Yves Bissouma doesn’t appear to be Chelsea bound

He is yet to set the North of the capital alight after switching to Spurs from the South Coast in the summer for £25m.

The 26-year-old has not been able to hold down a regular spot in Conte’s side, hence why Chelsea probably believed they had a chance to sign him.

Graham Potter might’ve had a say in this transaction, having worked with the Mali international during their days at Brighton.

Potter was still in charge at the Amex when Bissouma was sold to the London club, a player whose ‘quality’ has been praised by the Blues boss in the past.

But a reunion between the pair doesn’t appear likely, at least not in the next few weeks.
