While his future is obviously bright at the Nou Camp, the Catalan club have yet to tie his future down to a long-term contract.

This has put top European clubs on note, with the potential to strengthen their midfield for the next 15 years a genuine possibility.

The German has been handed an expensive set of signings in Todd Boehly’s first window at the helm, highlighted by the big name acquisitions of Raheem Sterling, Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly.

However, they have clearly listened to the manager’s concerns later in the window, with them making deadline day additions in striker and midfield areas, positions the Blues were clearly struggling in during the opening weeks of the season.

Gavi would no doubt be a sensational coup for Boehly, with him joining no doubt being a statement that the pedigree of the club is as high as ever despite there being no more Roman Abramovich.
