Chelsea reportedly hope that the appointment of Christopher Vivell as their new technical director can have a positive role in the transfer pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol.
The Blues made the announcement earlier today on their official website that Vivell, 36, has been appointed as Chelsea’s technical director.
He previously worked in scouting and recruiting in Germany for RB Leipzig, so will now look to bring his expertise to Stamford Bridge.

Vivell role in Gvardiol transfer
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are hopeful that Wednesday’s new appointment can impact their attempt to sign Gvardiol.
The report explains that the Blues think Vivell’s connections with former club Leipzig may be handy in the move to sign the 20-year-old highly-rated defender.
In our view, it would be great if Leipzig’s former technical director can play a role in poaching their £80million-rated centre-back.

Described as “very special” recently by Pat Nevin, Gvardiol has been heavily linked with a switch to west London.
Gianluca di Marzio claims that Chelsea’s biggest rival for the youngster’s signature is Real Madrid, though.
The left-footed centre-half has been developing well in Germany with Leipzig, playing Bundesliga and Champions League football on a regular basis.
However, these last few weeks will have changed everything for him.
He’s now under a fresh spotlight after some fantastic individual performances at the World Cup for Croatia, who finished the tournament in third spot.
