Report: Chelsea in direct talks with agent of teenage star who has been likened to Mbappe
Chelsea have reportedly made contact with the representative of Rennes wonder kid, Eduardo Camavinga.
According to Le Parisien, the Blues are in conversation with Johnathan Barnett, super-agent to several of the game’s stars.
An illustrious list that includes Camavinga, who is one of the hottest properties in world football.
The 18-year-old has entered into the final 12-months of his Rennes contract, with no indication he will agree to an extension.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Manchester United are said to be the most interested in signing the teenage talent, but several other European heavyweights aren’t too far behind in the chase.
Along with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have been tipped to battle for his sort-after signature.
French flame
Camavinga is recognised as the future of French football, which is saying something considering the players they have on show.
Rennes president, Nicolas Holveck, sung the praises of the midfielder during an interview transcribed by Footmercato last year.
“He’s (Camavinga) still very young, he’s a very thoughtful boy, incredibly mature.
“He reminds me of a youngster that I had the chance to know in Monaco (Kylian Mbappe), he knows what is important for his progress.”
Last season, Camavinga made 39 appearances across all competitions, including the Champions League home loss against Chelsea.
Had he been a few years older, or had a few more campaigns under his belt, he probably would’ve been selected for France’s European Championship squad.
But the young gem still has plenty of opportunities waiting for him just around the corner.
His next destination could well alter the course of his career.
Signing for the Blues would put him in a dressing room alongside a man he’s been compared to in the past, N’Golo Kante.
Could Camavinga be heir to Kante’s thrown? There’s no reason he can’t be.
