Chelsea are reportedly in leading the race to sign AS Monaco rising star Malamine Efekele, who has also attracted many top clubs across Europe.
The teenager who will turn 16 on July 19 has often been likened to Paris Saint-Germain ace Kylian Mbappe.
Similar to Mbappe, Efekele can play as both left and right winger.
But what makes the comparison really interesting is because they both came from AS Bondy and joined Clairefontaine academy before choosing AS Monaco as their first professional club.
Efekele joined Monaco in August last year and plays for their U-17 side.
There have been several outlets reporting Chelsea’s interest in the teenager, among them are ESPN and L’Equipe.
ESPN’s report claimed Chelsea “are pushing the hardest” among many other European top clubs to sign Efekele and the player is also tempted by the Blues’ interest.
While L’Equipe added that Chelsea are working to land him this summer in anticipation for post-Brexit provisional regulations which could prevent English clubs from recruiting foreign minors after January 1, 2021.
