Chelsea have reportedly made an approach to sign highly-rated Barcelona talent Alejandro Balde, who has just been promoted to their first-team.
The report comes from Spanish outlet Sport who dubs the 17-year-old “the next Ansu Fati”.
While both Fati and Balde usually operate on the same side of the pitch, the comparison between the two stemmed from their meteoric rises to Barcelona’s first team at such a young age, rather than their characteristics as players.
Unlike Fati, who is a left winger, Balde is an explosive attacking left-full back.
Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman reportedly decided to promote the teenager to the senior squad to be a back-up to veteran left-back Jordi Alba. But Sport also described him as Barcelona’s “next clear bet for the first team” after Fati.
The media outlet also added that Balde’s development has taken the attention of several big clubs, including two Premier League clubs Liverpool and Chelsea.
The two English clubs have been following him and even already approached his representatives to try to get him out of La Masia, the report detailed.
Balde, however, is reportedly comfortable with his situation at Barcelona and is also aware of the trust they have in his talent.
