Chelsea are reportedly one of several top clubs keeping tabs on Brighton youngster Moises Caicedo.
According to 90min, the Blues are watching the 20-year-old midfielder’s progress and are keen on him.
It is understood Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are all admirers of his, too.
The report claims sources close to Brighton say there’s “no chance” the Ecuador international will be sold during this summer transfer window, though.
Caicedo, who joined Brighton in 2021, is now starting to really find his feet in England.
The central midfielder enjoyed a decent run at the back end of last season for the Seagulls, plus he’s been a key figure in the opening two games of the new Premier League campaign.
Chelsea keeping tabs on Caicedo
For certain, Caicedo looks like a player to keep a close eye on.
The South American is superb in a defensive role in the centre of the park, covering a lot of ground quickly and winning the ball back for his side.
Graham Potter’s Brighton outfit really are a quality team with plenty of talent, something Chelsea are aware of after snapping up Marc Cucurella from them already this summer.
Described as “fantastic” by Brighton manager Potter, Caicedo is doing enough with his performances to grab the attention of the elite.
It’s going to be interesting to see how much the midfielder is eventually worth. For certain, it’s going to be drastically more than the £4.5million he cost Brighton last year.
Eventually, the Blues will need a long-term successor to N’Golo Kante, whose injury problems are a concern.
It’s too early to know if Caicedo can develop into a truly top-class midfielder, but the signs so far are extremely impressive.
