Chelsea are reportedly interested in Borussia Monchengladbach star Florian Neuhaus.

According to 90min, Florian Neuhaus is an all-action midfielder attracting plenty of interest right now.

It is understood that the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Newcastle United have all scouted the 26-year-old player. They will all continue to monitor him, albeit he’s not viewed as a prime summer target right now.

Elsewhere, the report claims that the likes of Liverpool, Napoli, AC Milan and Roma are keen.

Journalist Florian Plettenberg previously reported in 2021 that Jurgen Klopp is a “massive fan” of Neuhaus. Therefore, it’s no surprise to hear Liverpool’s name in the mix.

90min says that Monchengladbach have held contract talks with Neuhaus, who’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2024. The player’s representatives are looking across Europe to check out potential interest in him, though.

Neuhaus has enjoyed a strong club career so far in Germany, largely as a key player for Monchengladbach.

He’s an all-action central midfielder capable of contributing in both halves of the pitch. Incidentally, his best attacking season saw him score eight goals and make eight assists in the 2020/21 campaign.

Alongside his club success, Neuhaus has 10 senior international caps for Germany. He’s not been with the German national team for over a year now, but it’s worth pointing out that he’s had injury problems this season with his knee.

He looks a combative midfielder good enough to play in the Premier League. We’re not sure he’s the right fit for Chelsea, though.

Before Chelsea go about strengthening their midfield, the striker position and goalkeeper spot needs addressing more urgency as a priority.

There is a decent amount of quality in the centre of the park at the club, even with Jorginho’s exit to Arsenal in the New Year.

If N’Golo Kante decides to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge, the Blues will need to worry even less about the midfield. Journalist Florian Plettenberg recently claimed that Kante is close to signing a Chelsea contract extension.
