Chelsea have reportedly been in touch with German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich about their star centre-forward Robert Lewandowski.
According to Goal, the Blues have contacted Bayern asking them to be kept informed about the 32-year-old’s situation at the Allianz Arena.
The report explains the Germans are strongly against selling him this summer. But, the player himself may be “tempted” by a new venture overseas.
It is understood that Chelsea’s main aim is to sign a new frontman with Erling Haaland heavily linked.
However, Lewandowski has two years remaining on his contract and Thomas Tuchel’s side are now keeping tabs on him as a potential alternative.
Lewandowski, for some people, is the world’s best striker.
His record of 294 goals in 329 appearances for Bayern speaks for itself. He netted 103 times in 187 games for Borussia Dortmund before that.
In addition, he’s won 24 trophies so far in his career, nine of which have been Bundesliga titles.
Lewandowski would be breathtaking Chelsea signing
For Chelsea fans, it’s amazing to hear the quality of striker links with the club.
Lewandowski does turn 33 in August. But, he’s an absolute goal machine that you’d be foolish to turn your nose up at.
The Poland international is arguably looking at the peak of his powers right now, scoring 48 goals in all competitions last season.
However, Chelsea links to Dortmund’s 21-year-old superstar forward Haaland has the obvious benefit that he’s at the beginning of his career.
