Chelsea may reportedly look at signing Marten de Roon next summer, who is currently an important player at Italian top-flight club Atalanta.
According to the Daily Express, the Blues may consider the 29-year-old midfielder as an option in a year’s time.
The report explains that the Dutchman’s contract with Atalanta expires at the end of the season, meaning he would be available on a free transfer as it stands.
It is added that Chelsea could try sign West Ham’s Declan Rice next summer, but De Roon is a possible alternative to him.

De Roon, who previously had a brief spell in English football with Middlesbrough, was part of an Atalanta team that finished third in Serie A and reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
His side have been drawn alongside Liverpool in this year’s Champions League group stages and they have an extremely exciting group of players.
De Roon is a 15-time capped international is a classy operator in the centre of the park with his range of passing and control of the ball, but is also intelligent with his defensive work.
He would be a top signing for most clubs on a free transfer next summer, but Frank Lampard’s side are well stocked in that area of the pitch and Chelsea should only be looking to sign in that position if it’s a marquee addition like Rice.
