Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is being linked with Scottish and Europa League club Rangers.
According to the Scottish Sun, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are interested in signing the 19-year-old on loan when the January transfer window opens.
It is claimed that Chelsea are open to the idea of allowing the teenager’s temporary exit from Stamford Bridge until the end of the season, which would be his first loan spell away from the club.
Blues manager Frank Lampard started the central midfielder in Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw against Krasnodar in the Champions League group stages, with the youngster giving arguably a man of the match performance.
Gilmour dictated Chelsea’s play in midweek with an eye-catching display and many feel he’s good enough right now to be a regular first-team player.
It remains to be seen where the playmaker’s future lies in the second half of the season, but surely he’ll have one eye on being a part of the Scotland squad for next summer’s European Championships.
He would get the chance to play for a team competing for the title in Scotland and also in the Europa League knockout rounds if he joins Rangers, but on the flip side there is a good chance he gets decent minutes if he stays at Chelsea and learns from some of the best in training.
