Report: Chelsea now aiming to sign £27m title winner, Willian claims he's just like the Brazilian Ronaldo
Chelsea are reportedly interested in a move for Manchester City frontman Gabriel Jesus this summer.
Spanish publication AS Sport claims the 25-year-old is close to leaving Man City.
It is understood that the £27million attacker will exit the Etihad Stadium before next season if his expectations are met amid interest from Real Madrid, Arsenal and Tottenham.
The report adds Chelsea are the latest club to show interest in the Premier League title winner. AS explains the Blues could make a formal approach for Jesus, albeit they’re in a race against time to win his signature.
Chelsea interested in Gabriel Jesus
Jesus, who won his fourth league title in England this season, is a proven talent.
The forward finished the campaign with 13 goals and 12 assists across all competitions, showing his versatility by impressing as both a winger and central striker at various times.
It’s very difficult to nail down a permanent starting position in the Man City XI, though.
Chelsea’s problems with their forwards are well documented, so many supporters are desperate to see a new attacker added to the squad ahead of the new season. Incidentally, the Blues reportedly lead the race to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele this summer.
Jesus even earned comparisons to Brazilian icon and footballing great Ronaldo when he was making his way in the game.
Ex-Chelsea player Willian made the claim about the Man City star several years ago.
“I think Gabriel has similar qualities to Ronaldo. Their movement is similar,” Willian said in 2018.
Jesus’ career has not quite panned out how many expected in the sense he’s not an out-and-out centre-forward in Pep Guardiola’s Man City. Meanwhile, his versatility in attack means he’s an important individual on the international stage with Brazil right now.
However, 95 goals in 236 Man City appearances highlights he knows where the back of the net is.
