Chelsea have reportedly been handed the chance to sign Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues have been offered the opportunity to sign the central midfielder from Italian club Lazio.

This comes after a recent report that claims Chelsea are among the clubs to be interested in the 27-year-old during this summer transfer window. Manchester United, Newcastle United and Arsenal are all keen on the €80million-rated (£69million) player, too.

Milinkovic-Savic, who ex-Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman described in 2018 as “better than Paul Pogba” in some qualities, looks tailor-made for the Premier League.

The midfield powerhouse has the perfect combination of strength and technique to regularly bully opponents in Serie A.

Chelsea chance to sign Milinkovic-Savic

Milinkovic-Savic, 27, would be an excellent addition for any club across the Premier League.

The Serbia international has been a talisman in the Lazio XI for several years, as well as an important player for his country.

He finished last season with 11 goals and 11 assists in 37 Serie A appearances, which is a remarkable return from someone in the centre of the park.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are regularly linked in this current window with new defenders and attackers to improve the squad, but bringing some fresh legs into the midfield would be an interesting move.

Conor Gallagher’s due to return this summer from an excellent loan with Crystal Palace, so do the Blues need a marquee midfield signing?

It’ll be interesting to see how the midfield evolves over the next few years now that N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are both 30-plus.
