Report: Chelsea now interested 'dangerous' attacker who scored 17 goals last season

Chelsea have apparently turned their attentions to Stuttgart’s Sasa Kalajdzic as their hunt for a new centre-forward marches on.

According to The Athletic, Kalajdzic has recently popped up onto Thomas Tuchel’s radar as an outside choice for the Blues’ no.9 role.

The 24-year-old had an excellent year with Stuttgart last season, scoring 17 times in 36 matches across all competitions.

This puts him head and shoulders above any Chelsea player from the previous term.

Quite literally, considering he measures at a mighty 6ft 7in.

He also stood out for Austria at the European Championships, netting in the round of 16 defeat to Italy.

His club manager, Pellegrino Matarazzo, highlighted the strengths he brings to Stuttgart.

He is dangerous on goal and starts well,” Matazarro told BILD

“Sasa keeps the balls tight, which is also an important job of a great striker.”

Of course, Kalajdzic is not Chelsea’s first choice when it comes to signing another attacker.

Erling Haaland is on top of the pile, but it feels this particular saga is still stuck in the mud.

Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane remain on the list, yet it seems unlikely either will be arriving at Stamford Bridge anytime soon.

Based on statistics alone, he looks like a very handy addition to Stuttgart’s front line.

You’d have to be at that height!

I don’t think it would go down well with Chelsea fans if Kalajdzic was the only major signing this summer.

However, at this moment in time, they would be grateful for any signings this summer.
