Report: Chelsea now interested in £60m player at Champions League side, watched him already this season

Chelsea are reportedly interested in exciting player Moussa Diaby from Bayer Leverkusen.

According to 90min, Chelsea have now set their sights on Leverkusen’s 21-year-old attacker.

It is understood the Blues have been in attendance this season to watch him in the Champions League, so he’s a player firmly on their radar.

The report adds there’s also interest in the winger from Arsenal, Newcastle United, Tottenham and Manchester City.

Diaby scored earlier this week in Leverkusen’s 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League group stages, which was watched live by interested buyers from the Premier League.

Chelsea interested in Moussa Diaby

Diaby’s yet to hit his best form so far this campaign for Leverkusen, but’s he’s a talented wide player with a lot of trickery and speed.

The Frenchman scored 17 goals and made 14 assists in 42 games across all competitions last season.

It was reported earlier in the summer that Leverkusen will demand at least £60million for Diaby, who stayed with them beyond the window.

With Chelsea-owned winger Callum Hudson-Odoi spending this season on loan with Leverkusen, there’s plenty of reasons now to tune into the Bundesliga side’s matches.

It’s understandable that all Chelsea fans will love transfer links to attackers, especially emerging stars like Diaby.

However, let’s see what Graham Potter can get out of the club’s current forward in the next few months as he adapt to the role of new head coach at Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling, who Cesar Azpilicueta called “amazing” this week, is setting the standards right now for his Chelsea teammates when it comes to contributing in attack.

If the likes of Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech struggle under Potter, then it may be time to step up interest in a tricky winger like Diaby.
