Chelsea have reportedly stepped up interest in Torino defender Gleison Bremer by making a bid for him.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Blues have tabled an “important proposal” for the 25-year-old Serie A star.

The report explains the centre-back, who’s valued around €40million (£34million), is also wanted by Italian rivals Inter Milan this summer.

Bremer is a talented South American star that was a key player last season for Torino, albeit he’s still yet to earn a first international cap for his country Brazil.

Chelsea bid for Gleison Bremer

This latest report suggests the Blues are trying to secure a deal for Torino’s centre-half and is a development from tentative links earlier this summer.

It was reported last month Chelsea and Leicester City were in a transfer race to sign Bremer, described as a “lightning quick” defender. Apparently, the Foxes even made contact with Torino about him.

With two years remaining on Bremer’s contract in Turin, it’s going to be interesting to see if his club decide to cash in this summer on a prized asset.

Chelsea are linked with some big-money transfers during this window to reinforce a defence that looks desperately short in numbers going into next season. A transfer fee of £34million is relatively small compared to some of the other club transfer rumours. For example, Inter Milan centre-half Milan Skriniar could reportedly cost as much as £70million to bring to Stamford Bridge.
