Serge Gnabry is reportedly the latest name to end up on Chelsea’s transfer wish list.

Sport BILD are the ones behind this particular rumour about the Bayern Munich winger.

Gnabry is pretty great

Gnabry’s contract with the Bundesliga champions expires next summer and until he signs a new deal, stories linking up with a move away from Bayern will continue to circulate.

Julian Nagelsmann will undoubtedly want to keep the 26-year-old on board for another season, having only just made his acquaintance.

The German international is already up to 12 goals for the campaign, with another nine assists to his name.

He hasn’t missed a top-flight match since last April, a run of 27 straight starts or appearances.

Considering the attacking talent on disposal at the Allianz Arena, this stretch in the side shouldn’t be overlooked.

Consistency at the highest level is always hard to come by, yet Gnabry seems to have mastered it to a tee.

Not just in his native land, but across the continent.

London appears to be a particular place of interest.

Serge the scourge of Chelsea

Having initially been raised through Stuttgart’s academy, Gnabry joined Arsenal in 2011 when he was still totally unknown to the senior landscape.

After playing just 18 times for the Gunners, he moved on to West Bromwich Albion and then Werder Bremen before heading to Bayern.

He would soon be back in the English capital though to haunt Premier League sides.

During the 2019/20 Champions League group stage, he scored four times in 7-2 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur.

In the round of 16, Gnabry came up against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

He bagged a brace that night, pretty much ending Frank Lampard’s attempt at winning the trophy.

His torment of the Blues did not end there, however.

After the fixture, Gnabry uploaded a post to Instagram with the simple caption ‘London still red’, highlighting his loyalty to Arsenal.

Bayern would go on to claim ultimate glory in the competition, with Chelsea’s nemesis scoring another double in the semi-final.

“His stats are phenomenal. He’s sitting in the top-level, world-class,” said Rio Ferdinand after the West Brom flop thwarted Lyon.

Now, in a strange turn of events, Chelsea apparently want to sign the player who openly mocked them just two years ago.

Football is a crazy business…
