Report: Chelsea offer 26-year-old to Inter Milan for just £17m

Chelsea have offered Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Inter Milan with the midfielder being among the players Chelsea plan to offload this summer, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

While the 26-year-old played an important squad player role at Chelsea last season, he was not exactly a key player.

Thomas Tuchel mostly used him as a utility player, deploying the midfielder in various positions, including in the right wing-back position, to provide cover for others.

Still, if Tuchel plans to strengthen the squad this summer, Loftus-Cheek could be deemed surplus to requirements, particularly the number of returning loanees expected to fight for first-team spots.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Chelsea plan to sell Loftus-Cheek, whose contract at Chelsea expires in 2024, this summer.

The Blues academy graduate has reportedly been offered to Inter, who have also been monitoring the player.

Chelsea are asking for €20million (£17.2m) for the midfielder, which is relatively low for such a versatile player, the report added.

Inter, however, would reportedly prefer a loan deal as they consider Chelsea’s fee demands too high, which is hardly a surprise at this point.

The Italian club are said to believe that their pursuit of Loftus-Cheek is more realistic than trying to bring back Romelu Lukaku to Milan.

The report further mentioned that Loftus-Cheek’s €3.5m (£3m) yearly salary would not be a problem for Inter.
