Inter Milan are closing in on a January loan deal for Chelsea defender Malang Sarr following a recommendation from a Blues teammate, according to Sport Mediaset.

The 22-year-old did not make the Chelsea squad in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

According to the Italian publication, he already spent the evening in Milan and is currently in talks with Inter over a potential loan move.

Romelu Lukaku, who joined Chelsea from Inter in the summer, was the one who recommended the move to Sarr.

Sarr and Lukaku also share the same agent; Federico Pastorello, who has a very good relationship with Inter.

The report mentioned that the loan deal could involve an option to buy, which is yet to be defined in detail, but it is expected to be around €15million (£12.7m).

Sarr signed for Chelsea as a free agent from French club OGC Nice in 2020 and spent a season on loan at Porto before surprisingly making Thomas Tuchel’s squad this season.

Last month, Pastorello already revealed the plan to send Sarr on loan. He believes his client needs to play regularly before potentially fighting for a spot at Chelsea.
