Blues star N’Golo Kante ignored a transfer approach from Paris Saint-Germain in January, according to Le Parisien, but Chelsea will eventually have to make a decision over the midfielder’s future.

Kante, who just turned 31 a few days ago, entered the final 18 months of his contract with Chelsea in January.

This reportedly prompted PSG to try to convince the France international over a return to Ligue 1.

The energetic midfielder, however, reportedly did not respond to PSG’s approach. Le Parisien further added that Kante is happy in England and prefers to stay away from having to live in a city where he would be too popular.

Well, being one of France’s 2018 World Cup heroes, it is easy to see why Kante, who has a rather shy personality, would reportedly feel uncomfortable living in Paris where everyone pretty much knows him.

Still, Chelsea will have to decide whether they offer the former Leicester City man a new deal or cash in on him in the summer when he will have just one year left in his contract.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea had planned to offer Kante an improved contract before the sanctioning of club owner Roman Abramovich put a halt to the club’s contract plans.

Kante himself reportedly prioritises extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Alongside Kante, Jorginho is also in a similar situation, and it remains unclear whether Chelsea would be prepared to offer both long-term deals.

Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour are expected to be in Thomas Tuchel’s squad next season, and Chelsea were reportedly interested in a couple of exciting, young midfielders in West Ham’s Declan Rice and AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni.

This summer may be the perfect opportunity for Chelsea to rejuvenate their midfield. On the other hand, losing either Jorginho or Kante could also prove detrimental.
