Bayern Munich consider Andreas Christensen as a potential summer replacement for Niklas Sule, but the Chelsea defender is demanding a significant pay rise, according to Sky Germany.

A few days ago, Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn confirmed that Sule has turned down the club’s latest contract offer and expressed his desire to leave at the end of his contract in the summer (via beIN SPORTS).

They are now obviously on the lookout for a replacement.

Among the candidates, based on Sky Germany’s report, is Christensen, who will also be out of contract at the end of the season.

On paper, it would be an ideal situation for Bayern — replacing an out-of-contract with a free agent at the end of the season.

However, Christensen is also asking looking for a big contract.

Christensen reportedly wants double that of what he currently earns at Chelsea

The report mentioned that the 25-year-old, who is currently earning around €5million-a-year (£4.16m), has previously rejected a contract offer worth €7.5m-a-year (£6.2m) from Chelsea.

Sky Germany transfer expert Marc Behrenbeck even claims that Christensen is unlikely to accept any offer below €10m-a-year (£8.3m).

Another Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund, had reportedly shown interest in the Denmark international before deeming the player “too expensive”.

Similarly, it remains unclear whether Chelsea would be willing to meet the centre-back’s demands.

Unlike Antonio Rudiger, who is also in a similar situation, Christensen is not exactly a regular starter, at least for now, despite still being a valuable member of the squad due to his versatility.

On the other hand, Chelsea would likely still have to spend big to bring in a replacement.

Although, Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr’s emergences, as well as their reported pursuit of Sevilla ace Jules Kounde, suggest Chelsea should be able to cope with Christensen’s possible departure.
