Report: Chelsea player won’t decide his future until he’s spoken to the new manager

Conor Gallagher will reportedly wait to speak to Chelsea’s next permanent manager before deciding his future.

Conor Gallagher, 23, is linked with a potential move away from Stamford Bridge.

The central midfielder wants to delay making a decision on his future until the next manager is appointed at the club, though.

Currently, the England international is still under contract in West London until the summer of 2025.

According to 90min, Gallagher is attracting interest from the likes of Newcastle United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

It is understood that the 23-year-old wants discussions with Chelsea’s next full-time manager. Incidentally, Blues supporters are still patiently waiting to find out who will succeed caretaker boss Frank Lampard.

The report says that Gallagher does want a future at Chelsea, the club he’s been training with since the age of six.

Apparently, the midfielder will need some assurances over game time from the next manager. He wants a ‘significant role’ next season, albeit he’s not demanding a permanent spot at this stage in his career.

90min adds that Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are two available managers to hold recent talks with Chelsea about the vacant managerial position.

Graham Potter described Gallagher as “fantastic” earlier in the season.

Similarly, Lampard picked out Gallagher as a rare positive in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat against Brighton at the weekend.

The Blues academy graduate has stepped into the first-team squad this season, which is an opportunity he fully deserved after a sensational loan spell at Crystal Palace last year.

Despite not being a regular starter, Gallagher has still made 37 senior appearances so far this campaign across all competitions.
